Tokeneke updated.

How the F are you guys so fast? I can barely stay above 24mph.
can it.
Someone makes a legit complaint about cheating, doping, or whatever. There are then lots of copycat statements, but thats what happens folks when a mob gets angry. More than one person wants to get their 2c in. Deal with it. Then, and most interestingly to me, there is the inveitable apologist with the weak moral compass that thinks that standing up to cheating or lying or ethical breaches is no big deal, and we should all shut up and ride. Its the anything goes mentality of these people that disturbs me really to the core. Ethics are the foundation of our society, and many young people in our midst have compromised this base with poor eduction, and poorer role models. Wake up and smell the cheating. Its not cool, and its not ok.

Im gonna injure your face, sucka! You gonna look like the reverse of my fist in a minute. See if USCF covers hand face suckas!
To me its not a matter of the insurance or the money owed to the USAC or the NJBA. It is just a matter of deception. The racers should be told its not a USCF/USAC event and we/they can make a decision what they want to do. No one is holding a gun to our heads to race or not to race.
As far as the surcharges collected again this falls under a matter of deception. For us NJ riders the NJBA surcharges go into different programs, banquets, a very nice web page, etc. I may disagree where some of the money goes, but I don't go to the NJBA meetings and get involved. I pretty much just want to ride so I keep my mouth shut. Most of the NJ riders pay the surcharges with the knowledge of where it was going, right or wrong so this should be turned back over to the riders or the NJBA. Its is not for Premiere to decide what to do with it.
I have participated in Premiere's races over the years and have won and or placed highly at these events. Like most promoters there have been good events and others that have not been so great. It is very good they put on a lot of races but racing is not cheap and we the riders have to hold the promoters to a higher standard.
you will have to pay for your own injuries anyway, uscf does not cover that. read the fine print.
yeah, you guys are such holier than thou pussies. i guess i am the only (and most original) to make the point that you all should just grow a pair and pay for your own stupid injuries! did i mention that i'm the smartest person on this forum. smell the hate!
what an amazing new point i just made!
so what if they collected a surcharge? you went and did the race, you had fun, you paid the same entry fee you always pay. you didn't have uscf insurance? who cares, it's worthless. have you ever known anyone to crash and get some sort of coverage by uscf? i don't, and i know a lot of people who have crashed and who have sustained major injuries. tighten up your panties. and they used uscf release forms? of course they did, it's a legally binding waver absolving them of responsibility in case your dumb ass gets into an accident. you guys are always the same, some holier then though prick decides he's been slighted and makes his whiny points anonymously, then every other douchebag decides to keep adding posts reiterating what the first guy says and they think they are making some amazing new point.

We all like to race. Who doesn't?
I just think we are owed an explanation as to why they collected fees from us for the purpose of the USCF surcharge, for insurance, our participation in USCF, and they haven't submitted those to the USCF?
Similar to what a few have said on here, they should they return those back to the riders. After all, its our money, a 'surcharge'.
And, deceptive use of USCF waivers at this weekends' racing. i thought i had uscf insurance, it was a USCF race. i didnt see any notation of ABR on their flier. I didnt see any ABR officials, or use of ABR blue officials shirts. They just ran a loose, casual race with deceptive marketing, and then kept our surcharges for their own pockets.
I don't hope they win. I hope they get their head handed to them.
Cheaters never prosper.
I cant believe others stand for it. just beceuase they put on agood races. tons of promoters put on great races. and do it honorably.
I don't care about a monetary spat Premiere has with USCF. They're letting the courts decide, as he said. Fine by me.
I do know that Premiere cycling puts on a ton of races. I like to race. I hope they win their case and continute to do so. You should, too.
Thanks Premiere and good luck.
BOWL OF MILK!!!!!!
this is the guy who promised refunds to the 1, 2 3 race at rutherford?
Thanks for all the positive feedback. We will let the courts decide and I will leave it at that. We have nothing to hide. I hope the NJBA is ready do the same.
for me its simple, its a lack of integrity. premier took monies from riders stating that the fees we paid were a certain amount because of monies collected for USCF surcharges which covers things like insurance and OUR participation in USCF. Then, due to whatever their grievances they have with USCF, determined to do some self help and keep the monies we forked over for their pockets.
that is theft not sure what else you call it. what you paid int he past is what you were supposed to pay. that you were the largest promoter in the land, the savior of cycling in our area, doesnt forgive you for collecting rider monies and not delivering them, as you agreed to do so in your USCF permitted event.
But why was i required to sign a USCF waiver this weekend? thats insane. almost deceptive. I would have sworn that in signing a uscf rider release, and your checking my uscf license, that i would have had insurance coverage, and that my results, had i placed well, might have earned me upgrade points.
reading these posts, it seems premier has the belief that they are owed something from the NJBA and the USCF. events held under uscf permit are uscf events. they regulate it. they establish the rules. you're for profit. why would you be expecting the uscf to be subsidizing your for profit race promotions? a nd then, they dont subsidize your efforts, and you with hold monies you owe and then get a little deceptive at the races?
crappoooooo i say.
maybe they shoud just give the surcharges back to the riders...i swore i'd never go do another branchbrrok race again but maybe i'll go just so i can ask for the surcharges back that i paid in the spring
Fraud is defined as an intentional deception for personal gain. If SmithBro advertises ona race flyer that they are collecting surcharges for USACycling but has no intention of ever turning that money over, it constitutes a fraud against the riders.
If however, SmithBro simply refuses to turn over the surcharges that they've collected (and have contractually agreed to give to USACycling) it constitutes theft.
This situation sounds more like theft than fraud.
Who cares another Branchbrook race!
If SmithBro is taking surcharges from riders and not passing them along, is it considered fraud, stealing or something else?
If those dudes Tom and Smithbro own bikes, they should, like..., eh..., you know:
RACE each other!
Girl fight!
ok. what happened that the peloton east crazyness found its way here?
I love racing a Branchbrook, especially in the fall, SWEET.
Did you win?
Thanks for that excellent point Tom.
Can you also confirm the following:
Can you confirm that Premiere has paid some surcharges in 2008 but stopped paying around the time the USCF greviance was submitted?
Premiere has conducted more races in NJ then any other promoter in NJ the last 5 years.
Premiere has collected and paid more USAC insurance surcharges then any other promoter in NJ the last 5 years.
Premiere has collected and paid more $2.00 per rider NJBA surcharge tax then any other promoter in NJ in the last 5 years.
Can you confirm how much funds are currently in the NJBA so called non profit orginization account as we speak?
Can you confirm a dollar amount or any race support that the NJBA have reciprocated back to Premiere in the last five years? You know simple things like port a johns -- first aid kits etc. Please exclude the $100.00 finish camera rebate that you squashed last year.
Better yet, why don't you explain all of benefits to the 60% of NY riders that attend Premiere events get. You know like a typical Branchbrook race... Gee, I raced in Prospect and never paid a dime in any kind of surcharges to the NY local??
How about the last time a NJ state coordinator attended a race conducted by Premiere or showed support emails, etc?
Can you confirm that you announced a stage race in South Jersey around a week after you squashed the Tour of Vernon. Maybe I can help you with the emails that were sent out.
Can you confirm that Premiere just pulled off a major road race without the NJBA.
Can you confirm that you banned myself from the NJBA message board without warning me in any way shape or form.
Can you confirm that The RTT 29 timetrial series is conducted through ABR and you allow that promoter to post along with other Charity rides non USCF events etc on the NJBA Message board?
I will be happy to go on and on and on with this baby shit but I have more bicyle races and new series coming up like a new race coming in mid Sept to Branchbrook, Most likely the short Cherry Blossom course. Look for it to be posted up on Premiere and Truesport shortly.....
USADA doesn't go to park races.....
No mention of that UCI 2.2 race this past weekend. Forgot, park races are way badass.
Whoever you are. Would having a whole thread for you to discuss whether you should upgrade make you physically aroused? Wouldnt that be just cool if everyone had a party just for you?
how they use the denial of licenses to spin it as an "opportunity" for NJ riders to get into "grass roots" races, rather than a backstop for their continued attempt to make money. Nothing wrong with making money or promoting races, but the spin is over the top. How about just admitting the situation is a backstop and everyone can understand and even support that? It is what it is guys.
the Premiere simplified version of the pending lawsuit, acting as though the conflicting event was just some simple little TT. It was a major event (Giro de NJ) that was a 3 day stage race, and Premiere has made a legit decision into a legal shit show. Shame on you guys all around - esp for taking riders' money and holding onto it - what are you doing with it - using it to pay your legal bills now? Asses.
Yes you can.
Great course, well run, good prizes. Thanks to all who put it on, see you next year.
Why are there so many people who complain who is in what class wah wah! Jesus...go out ride your bike and have fun! Isn't what this is all about? I mean if this was your job thats one thing...but this is a hobby/passion of sorts. If someone is faster than you in your class then train harder or deal with it. Its a never ending cycle anyway. People complain about sandbaggers, well if they move up, then you'll become a sandbagger, or if not, you will move up too shortly after and still race against the same guys you did in a lower class and cry just the same.
WOW...my 18 month old niece cries less than you guys!
I can confirm what Care Bear is stating. As of today, August 12th, 2008 at 10:45AM Premiere Cycling has failed to submit nearly $5,000 in surcharges that were collected from riders or the accompanying paperwork to both the local association and to USACycling. This is why USACycling did not grant the permit for Cedar Mountain and Premiere was forced to run it through ABR.
Tom Mains
President
New Jersey Bicycling Association
Do you know that is a fact? Are you 100% sure? 100%?
The last thing we need is the slandering promoters that want to bring good racing to the area.
Hey Premiere guys -- I heard that you never turned over thousands of dollars in insurance surcharges that you collected from the riders to USAC. Is that true? Are you going to do the same thing to ABR? And who will license your races then if you do?
http://paulbk.smugmug.com/Bike%20Race%20--%20FOR%20PRINTS%20EMAIL:%20pau...
Let me set the record straight. The Cedar Mountain course was supposed to be part of the four day stage race that the NJBA refused to issue a USCF permit due to a schedule conflict with a time trial over 80 miles away. We filed a grieviance with the USCF and they sided with the NJBA. In the arbitrator's conclusion he indicated that we were free to sanction this event through a third party. That is exactly what we did. As far as one day's we integrated them into the release forms and picked up the tab. This race was fully insured and sanctioned. If you do go to the ABR site they indicate they do not except USCF licenses, however they do reconize CATS. The six USCF and now ABR officials that handled this race have over 40 years combined experiance officiating races. This is a common practice out in the Midwest where ABR dominates most grass roots racing. This race went off pretty flawlessly for a first year road race. (see recaps on Peloton East)
Ray busts his ass to make these races happen. We see it as a great opportunity to bring ABR into the state of NJ opening up more opportunities for grass roots racing at a cheaper cost to riders license fees etc. Based on the race scheduling and a new pending lawsuit against the NJBA we will most likely be hosting more of these events in the future. Of course we would avoid conflicting races in NY at all costs. We have a great relationship and respect for Charlie I. and company and know what it takes to make these races happen.
We thank all riders who particpate at our events.
The crew at Premiere.
greetings from rainy vacationland. If Dan and Andy made a poll I'd upgrade base on the results. Though we may need to get an official on board since I'm not sure I really have the points. It might also me good to know if the guys doing the complaining are factoring into the races you're talking about. It would seem not as most of the top cat 3 finishers are usually old guys. So yeah I could upgrade but you'd still lose to James, or Juan (Sommerville), or Thomas Wood (Harlem & DE) or Michael Norton. If you can't beat a bunch of old guys how important are those upgrade points going to be? Plus there's a wealth of information there that you'd be better served to tap into than push into the elephants' graveyard so your resume looks better on paper.
Back to rain.
Gary
If you want to talk about real sandbaggers. James Morrison is the champ. He has more top 3s than anyone in the North East and a handful of wins. He just got off an impressive showing at ESGs racing against some strong 2s and 1s. Now he is racing Cat3/4 at Capital RR. The guy is super strong but there is a point when you have to wonder if his ego is preventing him from upgrading.
you can't cat upgrade from masters pst. for example, a 40 year old cat 4 win/placessin a masters race, even a big out of towner. it doesn't count towards a cat 3 upgrade even though he might have beat cat 3s on up in that masters field.
bigger turnout for Nyack or Gimbel's
So winning this race is like winning the Gimbels or Rocket ride as far as updrades.
The final race of the 2008 Cadence Tuesday Night Race Series wil take place tonight at Floyd Bennett Field. It's double points.
This race was run under ABR(American Bicycle Racing) which, according to their website, does not recognize USCF licenses. Every rider at that race should have been required to purchase an ABR one-day or annual license. The race should not count for upgrade points with USCF and will also not count for USCF rankings.
Of course you can upgrade
that can't be right?
35+ is fast for the break the rest of the race is slower then a cat 5 race. Being legitimate is not the point. The point is the fags complaining about sandbagging.
And the guys who race the 35+ category are more than happy to let you know how fast it is.
Acutally I am an under 30 Cat3 with no real desire to upgrade past 3. Why - too slow for the next level and not enough time to train. BTW - I hear besides racing Pro1-2 (I have raced plent Pro1-3 races) that the 35plus is by far the next hardest cat. The talent in the masters fields is no joke. Thanks
Seems like Premier is hosting events like Vernon without USCF licensing. I was confused when someone told me that today. Wierd because they checked my USCF license and then had me sign a USCF waiver and release.
what other race organization is there that governs this stuff? was the race held under their rules? what about insurance if we had a pile up? and lastly, while i was out of the running for it, I assume the NY and NJ cycling federations dont use non uscf races for upgrading?
Maybe thats why their events are not gaining big crowds. You eat it hard, atleast at USCF races you get your hospital coverage paid for!
Why so defensive are you one the 35+ guys who did not actually earn an upgrade.
I think you missed the point. If you only race masters then you do not have anywhere to upgrade to. 35plus is the top of the heap. Those guys are not sandbagging if they are winning 35plus 1-4.
BTW - The hincapie sports link on the right brings you to the NYTimes? I am sure they would be happy to know this.
Lots of local 3's get there upgrade from master races.
Of course there are photos, but with all of the complainers around here, who wants to post them?
I suppose if they only did masters races they wouldn't. But those guys are usually doing the cat 3 races as well.
why what?
If you only race 35plus masters how would you upgrade?
another in the guys who should upgrade category are those Global Locate guys. Bike Reg has Gary Steinberg winning the masters race at the Gate City criterium.
